Chapecó (SC) conta hoje com quase 180 mil habitantes. Dispõe de inúmeros atrativos turísticos, tendo conquistado a posição de pólo turístico de uma região que compreende o Oeste Catarinense, Norte do Rio Grande do Sul e Sudoeste do Paraná, sendo reconhecida como a Capital Estadual do Turismo e Eventos de Negócios.
Nos últimos anos vem consolidando esta posição graças a excelente infraestrutura hoteleira, aeroporto como ponte de ligação aos principais centros urbanos, localização geográfica em relação ao Mercosul, centro produtor de alimentos e a diversificação dos eventos
realizados.
No município o turismo rural recebe visitantes que podem saborear comida típica, adquirir produtos com qualidade e conhecer belezas naturais, em locais cheios de simplicidade e de aventura, que oferecem lazer e descanso. Um dos atrativos que se destaca é a Trilha do Pitoco, localizada na Linha Alto Capinzal/Distrito de Goio-En.
A 28 km do centro de Chapecó, a Trilha do Pitoco faz parte do atrativo natural composto por bela paisagem e cinco cachoeiras, que variam entre oito e 45 metros de queda d’água. Já na primeira cachoeira há uma piscina natural com águas límpidas, próprias para banho. São percorridos cerca de 3 km de trilha (ida e volta) com destino a um verdadeiro recanto ecológico onde é possível praticar rapel. Além disso, há no local camping e lanche.
O nome da trilha se deve ao fato de que o cachorrinho “Pitoco”, pertencente à família do Sr. Gumercindo, conhece muito bem o caminho e está sempre pronto para receber os turistas.

Trail Pitoco
Chapecó (SC) has today approximately 180,000 inhabitants. There are numerous tourist attractions, having acquired the position of tourism centre in a region that includes the Western Santa Catarina State, north of Rio Grande do Sul and Parana Southwest; being recognized as the State Capital of Tourism and Business Events. Over the past year has consolidated this position due to the excellent hotel infrastructure, airport as connection to the main urban centers, geographical location in relation to Mercosur, a food producer center and the diversification of events held. The rural tourism receives visitors that can taste typical food, getting quality products and meet natural beauty, in places full of simplicity and adventure, offering entertainment and rest.
One attraction that stands out is the Pitoco Trail, located in the Alto Capinzal Line/District Goio-En. 28 miles from downtown Chapecó, the Pitoco Trail is part of the natural attraction consisting of beautiful landscapes and five waterfalls, ranging between 8 and 45 meters high. At the first waterfall there is a natural pool with clear water, proper for bathing. It is about 3 km of trail (round trip) towards a real ecological haven where you can practice rappelling. Moreover, there is camping on site and snacks. The name of the track is due to the fact that the puppy “Pitoco”, belonging to the family of Mr. Gumercindo, knows too well all the way and it is always ready to receive tourists.
