Arthur Thomas Park

With a total area of 85,47 hectares, Arthur Thomas park is a true treasure only 6 km from Londrina downtown. Created in 1975 and open to the public for visitations in 1987, the park is a great walking option, where one of the last remainders of the Brazilian Atlantic forest can be appreciated. Opens Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm during daylight saving time. The entrance is open to the public, but some rules are demanded: not feeding the animals, not taking seedlings, putting garbage in the baskets, not walking out of the trails, not entering with sound devices; some necessary preservation cares.

The park that is named after a Scotsman pioneer of the North of Paraná, considered founder of Londrina, has eight trails with animals names, all paved, through where anyone can walk and appreciate the vegetation and the animals as “aroeiras”, rose perobas, cedars, paus d’alho, capybaras, cotias, quatis, herons, monkey-nail, hundreds of butterflies, among others. The peacefulness and beauty of this space still allows to the visitor the enchantment with a variety of wild birds, approximately 80 different species, besides the lake formed by the embankment of Cambé’s riverbank, with a variety of fish, that can be seen swimming in the shallow part. Inside of the park the Cambé Hydroelectric power station (from the ‘30s) can be visited, nowadays deactivated, but during 28 years supplied Londrina with energy, not forgetting the 20 meters waterfall of singular beauty.
