O Mercado Municipal de Curitiba completou 53 anos em agosto. Inaugurado em 1958, o Mercado é hoje um
dos mais tradicionais pontos turísticos de Curitiba. Atualmente está em andamento a maior obra de revitalização
já feita no mercado. “As reformas vão dobrar o tamanho do Mercado Municipal e vão trazer mais conforto para
os clientes e funcionários”, afirma o prefeito Luciano Ducci.
Além de frutas, verduras e legumes, procedentes dos mais distantes e exóticos pontos do país e do mundo, o Mercado Municipal também têm, entre cerca de trezentos boxes, floricultura, mercearias, utilidades domésticas, massas e molhos, calçados, carnes exóticas, cafés, aquários de peixes ornamentais e materiais de pesca, presentes e lembranças, confecções, bebidas, delicatessen, temperos e especiarias, açougues e peixarias. Oferece também serviços de sapataria, relojoaria, tabacaria, loteria e barbearia, entre outros.
O Mercado Municipal de Curitiba apresenta diferenciais em relação a seus congêneres. Além de reunir
público formador de opinião e agregar o primeiro setor exclusivo de alimentos orgânicos do país, também é o primeiro do Brasil a contar com uma unidade de manipulação do Sistema de Inspeção Municipal (SIM), para preparo e embalagem de alimentos.
Enquanto durarem as reformas está suspenso o acesso gratuito a internet (sem necessidade de senha),
que voltará ao normal no final do ano.
O Mercado Municipal funciona as segundas, das 7h às 14h; de terça a sábado, das 7h às 18h; aos domingos, das 7h
às 13h, mas a praça da alimentação, que ocupa o mezanino, atende o público dominical até às 15h.

Curitiba’s Municipal Market
The Municipal Market of Curitiba completed 53 years in August. Opened in 1958, the market is today one of the
most traditional tourist spots of Curitiba. Currently it’s running the greatest work already done to revitalize the
market. “The reforms will double the size of the Municipal Market and will bring more comfort for customers and
employees,” said Mayor Luciano Ducci.
Besides fruits and vegetables, coming from the most distant and exotic parts of the country and the world, the
Market has also among three hundred kiosks, flowers, groceries, household goods, pasta and sauces, shoes, exotic
meats, coffees , ornamental fish tanks and fishing materials, gifts and souvenirs, clothing, beverages, deli,
condiments and spices, meat and fish markets. It also offers services in shoe repair, watches, tobacco, lottery and
barbershop, among others.
The Municipal Market of Curitiba presents differences in relation to others. In addition to gathering public opinion maker and add the first exclusive sector of organic food in the country, it is also the first in Brazil to have a management unit of the Municipal Inspection System (SIM), for preparing and packaging food.
During the reform the free access to internet (without password) is suspended, returning to normal by the end of the
year. The Municipal Market opens on Mondays, from 7am to 2pm, Tuesday to Saturday from 7am to 6pm, Sundays
from 7am to 1pm but the food court, which occupies the mezzanine, serves the public until Sunday at 3pm.
